Sad but TRUE

Geee, where to start.  After all the illness I am HAPPY to be feeling like my old self again.  Unfortunately, things are not going well at the store.  I can see the cultural differences a lot clearer.  I have been open since March 13th, 2010.  It was one of the happiest days in my life when I greeted and served my very first customer.  I felt like I had found my purpose and had a renewed sense of pride.  To be able to say this is my store and with the help of my Partner and family none of it…

Start of a New Year

Wow!  The holidays are over and I cant say that I´m not happy about it.  Oh, don´t get me wrong I love the holiday season, but this year was more stressful than usual.  It was fraught with illnesses and severe bouts of homesickness and lots of family time.  The store was closed to give me time to recover from my surgery the the first week of December. After being home from the hospital for 2 days, I was hit with a lung infection and Pneumonia...geesh.  I got over that after about a week and…

Ho Ho Ho - Merry Christmas!

Merry Christmas everyone!  I survived the surgery and just when I got home from the hospital I got laid low with a really bad lung infection and Pneumonia.  Of course I was not able to come back to the store when I had planned.  Today is my first day back and I´m feeling better, not quite 100% yet but getting there....cough cough cough.  Its just amazing to me how much sickness I´ve had this year, not to mention the last few months.  Every germ in Hamburg has decided to come live with me. …

Malibu Update

I cant believe that Christmas is almost here! Jingles bells and all. Just want to let you guys know that the store will be closed from December 8 through December 15th. Last December I had an operation on my Lumbar spine and there are screws and brackets attached to both sides. They did a bone graph to replace the discs that were removed. It takes a year for the bone graph to fully heal. Now it´s time to have the screws and brackets removed...yay! So, I will be in the hospital for 2 or 3 days… Continue

Victorian Christmas Market

Wow....I did it and it was amazing! The prep work was hard and a little trying at times (try making all these gift baskets with a 3 year old running around pulling stuff out and playing with the ribbons..LOL). I met some really nice people and everyone was so friendly and supportive. This is the type of connection I have been missing since moving here almost 2 1/2 years ago. There was nothing but positive energy flowing and it really put me in the spirit of Christmas. But you know what was… Continue

Victorian Christmas Market

I have been presented with a wonderful opportunity to increase the exposure of my store and to meet new and interesting people. This year I will be participating in the Victorian Christmas Market which is being held November 27th & 28th (follow the link below for location and time). I just can´t express how excited I am about this. So much so, that I called my son and my Mom back in the U.S. and told them all about it. I´ve also spread the word to my friends here in Hamburg. So, I am hard… Continue

Well, I finally got it together. I now have gift certificates, gift baskets and a variety of mugs, tea sets, syrups, etc available. I have some sample baskets made up, but I will make baskets per order. Please order them in advance of when you need them so that I have enough time to make them. I have 2 basket types, one is "Coffee Break" and the other is "tea Time". I can alos make one large combo basket. The basket decoration will change according to season and holiday. If you want one for a… Continue

Interview with The Hamburg Express

About a week a lady from the Hamburg Express (online newspaper) contacted me about doing and interview for a new weekly feature they have started. Needless to say I was totally over the moon about it. She said she read my store reviews on Qype and it piqued her interest. The interview was posted today and will run for a week. Here is the link, http://www.thehamburgexpress.com/content/view/1402789/58/.
