A new Ex Pat

Good morning everyone.

I have been seeing a lovely German Lady for the past 12 months and we are at the stage in our relationship where I am looking at moving to the Hamburg District of Germany sometime toward the end of this year. In Particular a place called Bornsen, in-between Bergedorf and Geesthacht.

I only speak enough Deutsch at the moment to be polite, I have ventured alone by bus to a shopping centre and was able to undertake a menial shopping task. I feat I am proud of ha ha. I will have to work to maintain my independence. Of course I will be living with my girlfriend.

Unfortunately being 59 years of age and without a recognised profession, to obtain work will be difficult but not insurmountable. Having joined "Britain in Hamburg" an address given to me by new friends and relatives of my girlfriend, I am hoping that you can give some guidance. The plan is to move, approximately September, and enrol in a school to learn German. Then hopefully I will have learnt enough to retain a small position which will enable me to literally pay bills, Health and other Insurances etc. Anything will be considered within reason, but I am very experienced in Administration and Customer Service, I am an excellent credit controller (business to business) and am a proactive problem solver as a result. I have worked in a "clean" environment for a Pharmaceutical company within the fields of production and packing. I have also worked for a small Curtain Contractor as a project assistant again working in all aspects of the company from Health and Safety to progress chasing to installation.

Any assistance that you could offer me would be very much appreciated, but in the meantime I thank you for your time in reading this and welcome your reply in due course.
