Britain in Hamburg

Missing out on the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee? No tickets for the London Olympics? All is not lost. Head for British Flair at the Hamburger Polo Club on 4-5 August 2012 and be in the front-row for a weekend of British shopping, sport, food and fun – and raise money for a good cause, too. The proceeds from the tombola run by Friends of Britain e.V. and lots of other activities by British clubs will be going to the Förderverein Erlenbusch e.V., which supports people in Hamburg with severe physical or multiple disabilities.

All the usual favourites are on the programme – Highland games, falconry, Jack Russells, classic cars, sheep dog and side-saddle demonstrations, rugby, cricket ... We’re planning more than ever for children, including theatre and stories in English and German. As well as pipes and drums, we’ll have a brass band and folk music. The big musical highlight, of course, will be the British Flair Open Air Proms Concert. It’ll be on 4 August at 8.30 pm. Our lifestyle section is worth a visit in its own right, with quality products from porcelain to antiques and from wax jackets to garden furniture, picnic hampers or even a folding bicycle. And of course there’ll be plenty to eat and drink. The big Guinness barrel is back by popular demand and there’ll be fish and chips, cream teas, whisky, Pimm’s and plenty more.
