I'm looking for volunteers to take part in creating an embroidered tapestry about the Scottish diaspora. This would involve helping with stories and also stitching the panels. The Leith Hull and Hamburg Shipping Company is an example of a story that links Germany and Scotland. Have a look at the Scottish Diaspora Tapestry website http://www.scottishdiasporatapestry.org

Films in English were shown at Streits am Jungfernfernstieg until end of March 2013 when the cinema had to close.
But the good news is ....... the SAVOY on the Steindamm opens it's doors today, 20 June, and will be showing films in the original language. The cinema has been refurbished and modernised, great sound system, very comfy seats. A must for all filmgoers who don't want to hear their favourite movie stars speaking in German

Last week at Kultwerk West we celebrated the 60th jubilee of Queen Elizabeth II. I used Skype to set up a video link with four people I know from my time in Birmingham or through work, and was really proud to show Britain as a diverse, internationally oriented, and quite relaxed country.
I baked some scones, which went down well; people even…
